You Are One With the Ocean of Being

When I contemplate my tiny self in relation to the vastness of the Universe, I feel so small and insignificant like a grain of sand in the Sahara Desert or a drop of water in an ocean. I am one person among nearly 8 billion people on this planet and there are probably millions of planets with billions of sentient beings.
Having this view of yourself in terms of the Universe is humbling and gives the proper perspective on your wants, needs, and problems. It’s easy to feel worthless and isolated, but that’s just a reaction from your ego. When you think about it, each grain of sand is surrounded and supported by many other grains of sand, and each drop of the ocean is surrounded and buoyed up by many other drops. You can think of yourself as a vital part of a vast desert or an immense ocean. When you do the Third Pillar of The Way, you can declare, “I Am One with the ocean of Being!”
Both a desert and an ocean contain hidden treasure. When you bury yourself in the desert of Being or plumb the depths of the ocean of Being, you gain access to these buried treasures such as long-lost wisdom more precious than gold. Also, when you’re one with other drops of the ocean of Being, you’re instantly connected no matter the physical distance. You know immediately when someone you’re close to is in trouble or hurts . This is often seen when a spouse or other close relative intuits when someone dies the exact moment they take their last breath. This brings up another analogy.
A drop of water evaporates and rises ino the sky where it stays for a while as part of a cloud and eventually returns to the ocean. In the same way, your body dies (evaporates) eventually and your soul rises to heaven where it rests for a time before condensing into a new body.
So, don’t feel that you’re just a drop. You are part of a mighty ocean that, over time, can wear down mountains, that contains and supports life, and that conceals precious treasures.
