We Are All White Magicians

"Magic is the whole of our existence. All our acts (and this includes every gesture we make as well as our words and looks) and all our feelings and thoughts are acts of magic... And whatever harmonizes, constructs, embelishes and illumines is classed as white magic" (Omrraam Mikhael Aivanhov, "The Book of Divine Magic," pp. 109-110).

You may not realize it, but every day, you utter magic words that work white magic. Some of these words are: “Thank you," "I am sorry," "Please forgive me," and "I love you." You may think that these are just ordinary words. On the contrary, these are the most extraordinary magical words, capable of purifying the darkest soul.

"Please" is a magic word that gets results. Please doesn't work every time you ask someone to give you something, but it works most of the time if you ask someone to forgive you, especially if you say three other magic words, before you ask: "I am sorry."

Before someone can forgive you, they need to know that you're remorseful. Suppose you break something you borrowed from a friend. You'll feel bad because they'll be angry with you. You want them to think well of you and speak and act toward you harmoniously. So you feel remorse for your carelessness that has caused discord in your relationship. So when you say "I am sorry," you really mean it, and your friend will sense it. Then, when you say "please forgive me," they will most likely hug you and say, "I forgive you."

So, what do you say when someone gives you what you want or forgives you? You say,

“Thank you!” Those two words of gratitude are very powerful, as they make the person you thank want to give you even more. No one likes to give again to someone who is ungrateful, who doesn't acknowledge your gift with a "thank you." So have an attitude of gratitude and say thanks often, and you will be blessed with riches, not just money, but good health and friends too.

But the most powerful magic words are “I love you!” because there is no greater force in the universe than love. My mother used to tell me that "love makes the world go round." And she was right! The Earth spins around because it was ejected from our sun, just as our sun was ejected from the central sun of our galaxy, which was ejected from the Great Central Sun of the universe. This creative force of the universe that caused everything to spin, from a galaxy to a planet to a waltzing couple, is love.

So when you tell someone, “I love you!” you tap into this cosmic force of divine love. And you will be amazed at the magic you can work by saying “I love you.” You don't even have to say it to someone's face. Suppose you're bothered by an overbearing boss, an insufferable relative, or a lying politician. You may be unable or unwilling to face them. But if you visualize them and say "I love you" over and over again, you will cause a change in yourself and that change will change them. This effect will be magnified a hundred times if you say all four magic expressions over and over again. Say, "I love you! I am sorry! Please forgive me! Thank you.”

You may ask, “But why should I say, 'I am sorry' if the other person annoys me?” Well, why do people say, "I beg your pardon!" when someone is rude to them? The reason most people say it is because it's a rule of etiquette, but if they knew the real reason, they would say it without venom and really mean it. The way most people say it, it sounds like "I beg for your punishment!" The real reason is that you are karmically responsible for the other person's annoying behavior. You likely harmed them in some way in a past life. But you can balance that karma by first changing yourself through the alchemy of this ritual of four magic expressions. You will be amazed at the transformation you will see in yourself and in the other person, but you have to keep at it for hours. At first, you might feel some resistance or no feeling at all, but eventually you will feel profound love, remorse, and gratitude. That's when the white magic happens, when you transform yourself and the other.
