This new age of Aquarius is characterized by technological advancements increasing knowledge and communication. But computers, machines, robots, nanotechnology, etc. comprise the gross aspects of this. The Way is a more refined aspect, for instead of rewiring circuit boards, we are rewiring the brain and expanding the potential of the mind.
Just as computers have replaced antiquated paper file systems, in the age of Aquarius, antiquated belief systems will be replaced by knowing systems in which each person receives knowledge and wisdom directly from their Highest Self. In the Piscean age, people followed a representative of God, like schools of fish follow an alpha fish. The Aquarian age is the age of the individual, when each person will become their own priest. The prophet Micah foresaw the age of Aquarius when he wrote, “They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train anymore for war. And each man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, with no one to frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken. Though each of the peoples may walk in the name of his god, yet we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.”
The vine in the above passage refers to the silver cord that connects our heart to the source of all life and through which we are all connected to each other in Oneness. The fig tree is our causal body bearing the fruit or good karma of past and present embodiments. This will be the gnostic religion of the new age, one is which each person communes directly with the Lord who speaks directly to them in their heart of hearts, without an intermediary priest, minister, mullah, or rabbi to intercede for them or frighten them with hell. But it will take time for everyone to adopt this gnosis. Some people will continue to believe in and pray to distant gods and live in fear instead of love, but eventually, gnosis will replace belief.
