Heaven and Hell

The gospel writer Luke had Jesus saying, “The Kingdom of God is within you.” So why do most Christians look to enter heaven after living a good life and believing that only Jesus can save them. If the kingdom of heaven truly is within them, they can go within now. The first Christians, who were gnostics and wrote the gospels, knew the truth of this and didn’t wait till death or depend on the blood of Christ to enter heaven. They knew that kingdom was a code word for consciousness. The kingdom of heaven is God consciousness or at-onement with the mind of God.

Heaven and Hell are not places but states of consciousness associated with time. A person can be in the hell of regretting the past or resentment of some past hurt or the hell of worrying about the future or craving something in the future. We focus our attention on our body and mind and just observe. When we notice some tension due to a demon of regret or worry whispering in our ear, we take a deep breath, relax, and let go of the thoughts. Over time, we are able to train or rewire our brains so that these thoughts no longer cause a reaction. When we’re able to let go of regrets and resentment and worry and cravings, we will experience the bliss of nonattachment. We are then free of what ties us to earth and drags us down, and we can ascend to heaven, which is the state of Oneness with the Universe or God consciousness.
