Grok with Awareness Now

When Rober Heinlein wrote "Stranger in a Strange Land" in 1961, he introduced a new word into our vocabulary -- "grok," meaning to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes part of the observed and loses identity in experiencing something as through the eyes of a child. In other words, you understand and empathize with someone or something to the point that you become them.

Grok may be new since the 1960s, but the concept isn't new. In the first century AD, the Therapeuts and early Christians had another G word, gnosis, with a similar meaning of direct personal knowledge of the truth. To have gnosis of God is to directly experience God without any egoic preconceptions of a white-bearded old man existing in some distant heaven who judges the good and the bad.

The early Christian church feared the gnostics because they said we didn't need priests as intermediaries between us and God but that each person can be their own priest, enter the holy of holies of their heart, and commune with (come into union with or grok) God.

This state of nonattachment and nonduality is Unity Consciousness or enlightenment. It can be attained momentarily in the heights of meditation and eventually permanently through continued practice. This is the goal of human existence, to transcend the human to become the divine. Throughout history, The Way to gnosis or enlightenment has been revealed at times through various movements. Some devolved into exoteric religions while others were brutally suppressed. The time has come again through Awareness Now, and with the Internet making global communication instantaneous, The Way can now spread like wildfire and enlighten the world.
