Free Your Soul from Its Prison of Fear

I am reminded of a "Twilight Zone" episode in which a prison counselor guides an inmate in a meditation during which the inmate flies above the prison free as a bird. If the soul, as Omraam said, "is capable of reaching the ends of...the universe," why does it imprison itself in this physical body? For the same reason some people limit themselves to living in one place and never venturing beyond it or restricting their thoughts and beliefs to only one narrow ideology or religion: FEAR.

They want to stay in the familiar comfort zone of what they know rather than face the uncertainty of the unknown. I have traveled extensively and explored Eastern religions, yet I have been afraid to venture out beyond my body or my home with my soul. I have had two out of body experiences during which I was wide awake. Once, my soul dropped through the bedroom floor to the living room where my wife was nursing our daughter. When I awoke, I ran downstairs to find them in the rocking chair exactly as I saw them with the eyes of my soul. The second time, I left our house through the skylight and began to travel out into space. But after a while, I became afraid of getting lost among the stars and snapped back into my body.

So to have "a soul as vast as the universe" as Omraam's master, Peter Deunov liked to say, we must conquer fear with love. As Saint Paul said, "perfect love casts out fear." Then the doors of our self-imposed prison will spring open and we can travel to the ends of the universe, even beyond it. For in reality, we are one with the mind of God who has created the physical universe. The love of God is the key that opens the door to our prison.
