Be a Drama Queen or King

Shakespeare wrote in As You Like It, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages...” I won’t quote the rest, but suffice it to say that the “one man” ends up without teeth, eyes, taste, or anything. If I had collaborated in writing that play with Shakespeare, I would have added, “And after that tragic closing scene, he will bow and exit to doff his dusty wrinkled costume and mask; whereupon he will retire to his home and rest, and on the morrow, he will don a new costume and mask for the next play.”

I did collaborate in writing a book on near-death experiences, Dying to Really Live, that had a similar teaching. The author is Duane F. Smith, a former agnostic and multiple near-death experiencer. What God told him during his first near-death experience reminded me of Shakespeare’s quote. Here’s what Duane wrote:

"If I had thought death just led to oblivion, I was wrong; my death was not just my falling asleep into a state of oblivion forever but a waking up to a reality I couldn’t imagine. As I was greeted by those I loved, I dissolved into the most intense love I had ever known. It rolled over me like the waves of a great tsunami, a happy, joyous love full of anticipation, promise, and closure. No words were exchanged, just thoughts moving instantaneously, with perfect clarity, from one eternal mind to another, without the ability to withhold or judge anything….

I now realized I had left nothing behind on earth. All my loved ones from that life, as well as all other incarnations, were here to greet me. All I had left behind was a character playing a role in a drama I, and other, had chosen to play, while our essence remained behind in the Hereafter. It all seems so easy now….

"As I was shown around, it was explained how most of our celestial, eternal knowledge is blanked-out during our chosen lifespans on earth. We must temporarily forget most of what our higher self already knows so we can immerse ourselves in the roles we have chosen to play in our different lifetimes….

"After what could have been a few minutes or hours of orientation, a deep silence began descending over everything. An all-encompassing “Presence” overshadowed the Soul Group, as its members faded into the background…. As everything else faded, a voice, which really wasn’t a voice at all, said in resonating tones, 'Welcome home, son; you have done a great job.' Again, I was bathed in yet an even deeper, more profound sense of love and acceptance, that just kept growing stronger, as the voice went on to say, 'But as long as you still have a warm body back on earth, would you like to stay for another act or two of you current drama? You have some important scenes coming up in a drama you and one of your daughters wrote.'

"I knew instantly what was being asked, even though, at the time of my death, I hadn’t believed in any form of reincarnation or anything else religious or spiritual. In spite of that, I instantly knew I was being asked if I wanted to return to the earth drama I had just left."

In Duane’s subsequent NDEs, he did not see the members of his soul group wearing human bodies. He described them as opalescent orbs. He wrote, "This trip to the afterlife was to be entirely different than the other two times. This time, they took me to a gathering of our old soul group, which we had all reincarnated with, over and over, for millennia. There were no physical bodies... I guess my guides felt I was becoming comfortable enough, to let go of the need for a physical setting. I was, but I found later that sometimes, some part of my higher self would roll out a good physical reality for me, I suppose for nostalgic reasons if nothing else….

"On this occasion, all the 'entities' from our soul group, were in the form of opalescent orbs consisting of love and energy. Again, part of them I had known in this material universe, and the rest were from other realities and universes in God’s realm."

From the point of view of near-death experiences, all the drama of life: marriage and divorce, hirings and firings, successes and failures, politics and wars, and births and deaths, are all scenes from a play. You wrote the script and you take turns playing different roles with members of your soul group. In one lifetime, you may be a parent and someone else your child; in the next, you are the child and they are the parent. Your life is a morality plays. The question is: What’s the moral of your story? How will it end? Will it end tragically like Romeo and Juliet or comically like As You Like It? Whatever the case, by practicing the three pillars of The Way, taught at awarenessnow.com, you can remain unattached and enjoy the play, watching yourself perform on the stage of life. Then you will become a true drama queen or king. I’m not talking about a prima donna or don, which means “a very temperamental person with an inflated view of their own talent or importance.” King is a gnostic term for Christ or someone who has attained universal or God consciousness. A queen is a female Christ. So a drama king or queen is someone who is enlightened and totally unattached to their life, unafraid of death, and has the nobility to treat everyone with kindness and compassion, especially those who are caught up in the drama of their lives and haven’t awakened yet.
